Hello, I am Rev. Deborah McBride, and work closely with the Called to Care group and lead worship once a month on Saturday evenings.
Born and raised in Evansville, I also have a daughter here, Jessica, a teacher at Bosse High School. My Master of Theological Studies was completed at Garrett-Evangelical Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, and Masters of Divinity at Eden Seminary in St. Louis. The training I received as a chaplain led me to work at many hospices, hospitals, and long-term care facilities in Chicago, Florida, and the Evansville area. I was ordained in the Florida Conference of the UCC, but returned to Evansville when my daughter had the twins. (I just had to be around my grandkids!)
My love of music started in grade school and continued throughout high school, where I played the string bass in orchestras. I’ve had the joy of being amember of several bands in places where I have lived throughout my life, as a singer and a bass player. Currently, I am a member of a Bluegrass/Acoustic band called Sassafras. We have played regularly in the Evansville area until the pandemic started and at several local UCC churches at Sunday worship services. I am happy to be part of Bethlehem UCC and this wonderful congregation.
