Showing God's Love to Those in Crisis
Mission trips go anywhere and everywhere there is a disaster or people in need. Whether it is Biloxi, MS, helping with devastation in our own area of Evansville, or something in between. People are wanting and needing our help all over the world, and our job is to help our fellow man, showing God's love and witnessing to people by our good deeds. The leaders of our mission trips feel so blessed to be able to do this work; to have the backing, support and prayers of all of their friends at Bethlehem, and to have had wonderful volunteers from Bethlehem to come along on our trips.
Our youth group goes together on a mission trip annually. They alternate between urban and rural locations, and usually attend national programs sponsored by organizations such as DOOR and Group.
Adult mission trips are organized (at least) annually, and sometimes more often as need arises from disaster relief. We are blessed to have two members of our congregation, John and Pam Small, who work with the United Church of Christ on the national level in disaster recovery, and do an amazing job of leading groups of volunteers from the area into mission. Recent trips have included Biloxi, MS and Salyersville, KY.
